Peer Groups for Nurses

No-cost, confidential, videoconference groups for nurses to connect and support each other as they navigate their careers and lives

What is NurseGroups?

NurseGroups is a volunteer-led peer support group created specifically specifically for nurses. Our service is free and confidential.

Initially a place to process the impacts of COVID-19 together, Nurse Groups is now an open space for nurses to share their work and life experiences, give and receive support to each other, and feel less alone in their journeys.

Participating in NurseGroups can help you:

  • Reduce anxiety

  • Blow of steam

  • Replenish focus, energy, calm, and motivation

  • Develop supportive connections with other nurses

  • Process difficult emotions

  • Increase your capacity to support yourself and others during times of emotional distress

  • “Simply phenomenal. I am so eager to share this with other RNs that could desperately use this assistance.”

    - Lisa, Nurse Manager

  • “The NurseGroups facilitators are accepting, kind, gracious, and respectful. They have given me insight into my fear about our current situation and provided amazing guidance on how to work with it.”

    - Renee, RN

  • "This group meant so much to me."

    - Anonymous

  • "I enjoy the structured meet and greet but also the time for unstructured talk."

How does NurseGroups work?

When?

NurseGroup sessions run weekly for an hour on Wednesdays at 10:30am PT / 1:30pm ET and are held over Zoom.

Who?

NurseGroup sessions are run by a rotating group of skilled facilitators, currently either Mansi Jain, Nadia Plummer-Potegal, or Alexandra Teter.

Nurses from all over North America attend our sessions and come with a diversity of backgrounds and experience. Each session is different based on who shows up.

What?

Sessions begin with a brief grounding exercise and a check-in from all participants who feel comfortable speaking. The remaining time is an emergent group dialogue based on the themes and intentions that surfaced during the check-in.

While facilitators will moderate the conversations by asking questions and sharing reflections, our hope is that the nurses who attend make the conversation their own - by sharing their own questions, insights, and experiences freely.

Please note that NurseGroups is a volunteer-led peer support group. We do not offer licensed mental health services. If you are dealing with a mental health crisis, including but not limited to suicidal, homicidal, or other dangerous urges in yourself or someone else, call 9-1-1 immediately for assistance.
